Casual Girl

Casual Girl
© L.Ponce/M.Wells

Should have never walked through that door
But any excuse would do.
No means no unless it’s with you.
I want what you want ‘cause that’s what you want
Truth be told I wanted it too.

You keep me handy like pocket candy
Being your Casual Girl.
I’m dedicated to a love I’ve hated
Forever your Casual Girl.
Can I take it all back
No, I’m not that lucky.

Morning after the night before
Somebody give me a shout
411 is hanging me out
To you I’m easy, just like any other
You got me trained like Pavlov’s lover.

You keep me handy like pocket candy
Being your Casual Girl.
I’m dedicated to a love I’ve hated
Forever your Casual Girl.
Can I take it all back
No, I’m not that lucky.

I keep taking your bait
You keep throwing me back
I guess I’m not a keeper
So I’ll keep on sinking deeper
Into my fragile, casual world.

Remedy

Remedy

Feeling weak, my knees are shaking
Missed a beat, my heart is aching
Thinking of you is gonna make me crazy
Dreaming of you is gonna make me wake
It’s not fair when the fine aren’t free
I don’t know if I can let you be
I need a remedy
I need a remedy, for what I’m feeling
For this malady
If the diagnosis is love
Oh, until they find me a cure for love
Crossed my mind, that maybe baby
You could decide, to show a little charity
Keep away from my open window
Save your charms for somebody else
Those blue eyes will make a liar of me
I don’t know if I can let you be
I need a remedy
I need a remedy, for what I’m feeling
For this malady
If the diagnosis is love
Oh, no remedy
‘Cause I’m in trouble
The strings on my fiddle go humming when I see you
My wheels keep turning down your drive
And I pretend that ring is from a cracker jack box
I need a remedy
I need a remedy, for what I’m feeling
For this malady
If the diagnosis is love
Oh, until they find me a cure

Baby, please don’t go
Baby, please don’t go
Baby, please don’t go, down to New Orleans
You know I love you so
Baby, please don’t go
Before I be your dog
Before I be your dog
Before I be your dog, I get you way down here
You know I love you so
Baby, please don’t go
Turn your lamp down low
Turn your lamp down low
Turn your lamp down low, I’ll beg you all night long
Yeah, I’ll be your dog
Baby please don’t go
Baby, please don’t go
Baby, please don’t go
Baby, please don’t go, down to New Orleans
You know I love you so
Baby, please don’t go

Frostbite

Frostbite

Bring back that blue, September sky
Heaven's ocean, God’s paradise
Beneath that sky, we made our plans
But that arctic air came down and killed our harvest
That you carelessly left unguarded
You got under my skin, and it hurts
A frostbite like I’ve never known
Oh the falling snow is so warm
Compared to the weather you’re sending me now
I’ve gotta find cover, from the frost
How could your fire burn out so fast?
I guess you needed some air to feed it
But you’re the one that threw on gasoline
Well I begged you to let it smolder
But you had to see those flames outta control.
You got under my skin, and it hurts
A frostbite like I’ve never known
Oh the falling snow is so warm
Compared to the weather you’re sending me now
I’ve gotta find cover, from the frost
From the frost…
I’ll be OK, you wait and see
‘Cause I found shelter from your stinging winds
I see you planting your seed elsewhere anyway
But that harvest that she hopes for
Dies the minute she relinquishes control
You got under my skin, and it hurts
A frostbite like I’ve never known
Oh the falling snow is so warm
Compared to the weather you’re sending me now
I’ve gotta find cover, from the frost

What Happened To You?

What Happened To You?
© L. Ponce/M. Wells

Once upon a time you could take a six string
And turn us inside out.
Once upon a time you could make us feel
You was what our god was all about.
Did you grow old, or lose your lust to booze?
What happened to you?

What happened to you?
What happened to you?
You turned your back against the wah
Were you trying to make us crawl
What happened to you?

You left us standing here at the crossroads
Won’t you calm my troubled mind
You left us here screaming for a rewind
Won’t you ease our worried minds
There’s nothing to discuss
Have a drink and lighten up
What happened to you?

What happened to you?
What happened to you?
You turned your back against the wah
Were you trying to make us crawl
What happened to you?

Remember standing high on the mountain?
Daring anyone to fly.
Remember being king of the condors?
Remember being king of the sky?
Now we’re all waiting for you
And you’re way overdue.
What happened to you?

Testify

Testify

Everybody needs somebody sometimes
Everybody wants to be someone
Everybody needs to feel needed
And still to feel they need no one.

Will you testify?
Are you living for love?
Testify. Are you living for love?
Can you stand by, look me in the eye
Testify,
Whatcha livin for?
Are you living for love?

Everybody needs their freedom sometimes.
Everybody wants to feel so free.
Everybody wants to be wanted
Still we need to feel so free

Will you testify?
Are you living for love?
Testify. Are you living for love?
Can you stand by, look me in the eye
Testify,
Whatcha livin for?
Are you living for love?

Testify
Are you livin’ for love?
Testify
Whatcha livin’ for?

Can you stand by, look me in the eye
Can you stand up, look me in the eye and
Testify
Whatcha livin for?
Testify
Are you living for love

Soul Shifter

Soul Shifter

Some men try to be famous
Some try to rule the world
Some men try the women
Then there’s those that know their worth.

Hum a little tune.
All the world falls down for you.

Then he sang
Old blue eyes, he sang.
And his song melted my heart.
Sending me higher.
He’s a Soul Shifter
He’s the mood lifter.
And I saw, telling in his eyes
Pages from my life.

Some men go for the money
Some go for the physique
Some men go forever
They’re the ones you wanna keep.

Does he hum a little tune.
Will he prove he worships you?

Then he sang
Old blue eyes, he sang.
And his song melted my heart.
Sending me higher.
He’s a Soul Shifter
He’s the mood lifter.
And I saw, telling in his eyes
Pages from my life.

When legends die, dreams will die
But I’m the shining star of the boy next door
And he’s keeping this love alive
